Why Forge?

Routinely, one will hear a conservative American quote these famous words from President Ronald Reagan:

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

Admittedly, it’s one of my all-time favorite quotes because it so poignantly reflects timeless truths. History reveals that nations that head down the road of tyranny rarely turn back from the abyss. But, it’s easy to turn quotes into platitudes and to just stop there.

In reality, these words beg tangible questions and inspire action:

How do we pass on the values of liberty, limited government, and personal and fiscal responsibility to the next generation?

How do we ensure that our children and grandchildren go forth recognizing the enduring worth of faith, family, and freedom?

Forge Leadership Network was formed to help meet this need, to tackle this challenge. We have created a process to equip the next generation of principled, effective leaders in the public square.
