Powerful Memorial Day Reflection from Forge COO Jeremiah Martin

I hope you’re doing well and enjoying this holiday weekend with loved ones.

Our Chief Operating Officer, Jeremiah Martin, is an Army veteran with over 10 years of military service, including two deployments overseas. I want to share with you his reflection on this Memorial Day holiday:

“Memorial Day is not a day to thank veterans or celebrate those who currently serve in the Armed Forces. Rather, it is a day to honor and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our nation. Benjamin Disraeli once said, ‘The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example.’ While it is a solemn occasion, let us not forget it is those who went before us that paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today. May we spend this Memorial Day celebrating the lives who are no longer with us, emulating their example by living lives of selfless service, and enjoying the freedoms they sacrificed to defend.”

Remember this Memorial Day that “greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” As we spend time with family and friends, let us never forget the sacrifice of those who came before us and gave what Lincoln so poignantly called “the last full measure of devotion.”

Sincerely,
