Forge Graduate Jena Powell Wins Primary Election for State Representative!

The Forge Alumni Network celebrated a milestone on Tuesday night:
Forge graduate and super volunteer, Jena Powell, shocked the Ohio political world by winning a highly contested four-person state representative primary election by almost 30 points!!
Jena is now the Republican nominee for the the 80th Ohio House District, which covers all of Miami County and southern Darke County in Western Ohio, just north and west of Dayton. Jena will face a Democratic opponent in November, but will be heavily favored in the deeply conservative, rural district.

“It’s amazing to have so much support from the community,” Powell said of the primary win.
Her focus is fighting for local government control and cutting down on regulations so that small businesses can thrive.
“When we have high taxes, high regulations, it puts a burden on our small businesses,” Powell said. “We want to create an environment where they can thrive.”
Powell is a small business owner herself, starting her first company when she was 17. She and her brother now own and operate a billboard advertising company in Arcanum.
“I’ve been able to fulfill my American dream here,” she said. “I want the younger generation to know they don’t have to go somewhere else.”

Of course, Forge Leadership Network, as a 501c3 tax-exempt educational nonprofit, does NOT engage in the election of any candidate, so we were not involved in Jena’s campaign.
But we’re very proud of helping prepare Jena with the principles, policy, and practical skills necessary to take such a huge step as running successfully for high-level public office. Jena knew that Forge Leadership Network existed to invest in and equip young conservatives with aspirations like hers to serve her neighbors and community in big ways. As an already-successful young businesswoman, she attended and helped organize the first three Forge Leadership Summits with accurate hopes that Forge could help her grow as a person of deep conviction and equip her with hands-on training that would serve her well in her future endeavors in business and the public sector.
In her own words, Jena stated, “Without the conservative policy training, practical hands-on training, and amazing experiences I received from the Forge Leadership Network, I can confidently say I probably would have never run for office. If you want to be in conservative politics, the Forge experience is essential.”

When and Where is The Summit Held?
Tuesday, July 24th through Saturday, July 28th on the campus of Ohio Christian University in central Ohio. Two of those days are spent at the Ohio Statehouse in downtown Columbus.
How Much Does The Summit Cost?
- Regular Rate of $450 if you apply by June 1st
*Summit Tuition includes dormitory housing at Ohio Christian University, meals and snacks, transportation to and from the statehouse, materials, as well as cost for any activities.
